Herbal Supplements

These are a few herbal supplements I recommend everyone keep in their medicine cabinet. Dosages are general recommendations – Please consult with your health care practitioner before taking any supplements.

Colds and Flus:

Early onset:
• Gan Mao Ling
• Yin Chiao Tablet

Fever, Chills, Headache, Sore Throat, Coughing
Dosage: 3-5 tablets 3 times a day

• Echinacea
(Insure, Wellness Formula, Gaia)
Dosage: follow label on specific brand, dose at least 3-4 times a day

• Gan Mao Tui Re Chun Ji
Dosage: One bag of crystals dissolved in hot water for a tea 3 times a day

• Oscillococcinum
Symptoms of the flu: fever, chills, body aches and pains
Dosage: contents of one tube under the tongue, repeat 2 more doses at 6 hour intervals, between meals

• Vitamin C 2-4 grams/day divided doses
• Miso soup with a slice of ginger and sliced green onions on top
• Gargle with salt water often

Sinus Infections

• Bi Yan Pien (Plum Flower brand)
Sinus congestion. Yellow mucous.

• Pe Min Kan Wan
Sinus congestion, more runny nose

Sinus washing-1/2-1 teaspoon of sea salt to 1 cup of warm water

• Jie geng wan
Bronchitis, yellow sputum
Dosage: 8-16 pills 3 times a day

• Pinellia Expectorant Teapills
Large amount of phlegm, thick, may feel pressure in the chest and may cause vomiting. Dosage 8-16 pills 3 times a day

Cough Syrups:
• Locket Extract Syrup
• Hiss Keki Chuan


• Pill Curing
Nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, slight fever and chills, headache, diarrhea
• Ginger tea
